Motor Research
Improvements
in the efficiency of electric motors will have significant
benefits for the next generation of Electric Vehicles.
While
presently available DC and AC Induction motors typically
operate at over 90% efficiency, they generate great
quantities of heat. This requires liquid cooling in
EV applications.
Three
approaches can be pursued to improve electric motor
technology:
1.
Elimination of back EMF in AC induction motors by use
of resonant tank circuit armature coils
2.
Development of permanent magnet motor technologies
3.
Electrostatic Motors
